About Quartexx Management

Quartexx Management is a Mont-Royal-based hockey agency built around a boutique-service model for elite athletes and their families. The agency’s foundation began in 2014 with the completion of Hockey Etcetera, the Saputo family rink in Montreal, and Quartexx was formally established in 2015. Its first major growth step came in 2016 when Quartexx merged with MFive Sports, the agency led by Kent Hughes and Anton Thun, bringing decades of hockey representation experience into the new platform. In 2019, Quartexx expanded again by merging with Darren Ferris’ DHG Sports Agency, adding Ferris’ star-heavy NHL client list and negotiation style. Kent Hughes later left Quartexx to become general manager of the Montreal Canadiens in January 2022, while Anton Thun announced his retirement in September 2024. The current NHL roster includes Mitch Marner, Lane Hutson, Darnell Nurse, Sam Bennett, Nazem Kadri, Mike Matheson, Kris Letang, Taylor Hall, Bowen Byram, Alex Newhook, Philip Broberg, Will Smith, Joe Veleno, Matthew Wood, and Pavel Zacha. Quartexx is especially known for star-level forward deals, high-end defense contracts, offer-sheet/RFA leverage, Quebec-market defensemen, and NCAA-to-NHL prospects such as Lane Hutson and Will Smith. The agency’s service model goes beyond contract negotiation: it lists player development, marketing and endorsements, philanthropy, life management through OAK, post-career transition, and an annual development camp at Hockey Etcetera. Its partner network includes Hockey Etcetera, Junxion Performance in Montreal and Toronto, OAK: The Player Service, and August Group Capital for wealth-building access. Quartexx also launched a women’s hockey division in February 2023, offering marketing/PR, player development, lifestyle management, contract negotiation, and financial planning for women’s pro players. The agency’s public identity is “high-class treatment” with a family-oriented, personalized, concierge-style model for athletes across amateur, pro, and post-playing stages.
